Our School

Beclabito Day School is east of the New Mexico/Arizona border near the Four Corners area on Highway 64 in the Beclabito Chapter of the Navajo Nation. The Beclabito chapter has approximately 800 residents. Our community incorporates Teec, Beclabito, Shiprock and surrounding chapter communities. Sixty-five percent of our students live in the Shiprock and surrounding area west, and 35 percent live in the Beclabito and Teec areas. Sixty percent of our staff live in the same communities as our students, and 40 percent live in areas other than where our students live. Beclabito Day School is part of the Navajo District within the BIE network of schools. All of our students and 88 percent of our staff identify as Native American. Sixty percent of our students are male, and 40 percent are female.

Beclabito Day School is a kindergarten through fourth grade school with a FACE (home base) program for newborns to 2-year-olds, a pre-k (center base) program and an adult education program.  Our FACE program is literacy-based. Our K-4 program offers language, math, science and social studies classes. Also offered are Navajo language, music, library and technology classes. Our special education program helps students with Individualized Education Programs in inclusion and 1-on-1 settings.

Mission

The mission of Beclabito Day School is to meet the educational needs of our students, inspire life-long learning and develop productive students.

Vision

Beclabito Day School's vision is to serve students' unique academic, physical, social, and emotional needs. The school challenges students to do their best as learners and as citizens, both now and in the future. The school fosters a climate of respect and acceptance to encourage self-worth and dignity for every individual. The school, parents and community share responsibility for building each child's academic success, social awareness, and emotional and physical growth. All aspects of the school’s organization and curricular and extracurricular activities are child-centered and designed with Navajo culture to accommodate individual learning styles so that all may experience success.

Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP)

During the 2023-2024 school year, Beclabito Day School implemented the Strategic Transformation of Education Plan initiative – a digital learning portal with a blended learning approach. Our students can maximize this opportunity by accessing the digital learning portal with a 1:1 student-laptop usage ratio. This approach gives our students the advantage of integrated applications, and a robust learning strategy.

Beclabito Day School's team of dedicated educators are committed to the growth and development of your children - tomorrow's leaders.
