FACE Program at Beclabito Day School

Beclabito Day School supports the parents/guardians of our Navajo Nation’s children through a partnership with BIE’s Family and Child Education program, which helps children and parents/guardians be ready to participate on the first day of school and beyond. Preschool education is the responsibility of the parents and the school system. The FACE program shows families how to prepare children for the classroom and their educational journey.

Parents/guardians are children’s earliest and most influential teachers, but they often enroll children before being taught how to be a student. Children can master critical developmental skills (social, emotional, listening, cognitive, motor skills, etc.) that put them at the starting line of their educational journey, and keep them from falling behind their classmates.

All parents/guardians of school-age children can benefit from FACE program services. Household literacy increases and family-school-community connections develop when families partner with FACE. This partnership also promotes early identification of children with special needs and guides families to the appropriate educational services. FACE is able to facilitate and support the celebration of culture and linguistics among diverse Indigenous communities.

FACE services are able to integrate language and culture in both home and school settings. Parents/guardians are encouraged to enroll in Beclabito Day School’s FACE program when they enroll their children in school. If you have any questions about the application process, please contact selina.weldon@bie.edu.
